Excerpts from Nicola Triscott 's Performance and Science: Debates & Dialogues

Hello friends,
I felt like sharing this article with you all though it may not be relevant to your modules.

There has been a growing awareness among artists regarding performance and scientific establishment combining with notion of enriching cultural health and intellectual life.  Young artist's thematic dance pieces are providing an astonishingly fertile platform for dynamic and exciting productions. Empirically it is clear to see that artform such as dance, music Does successfully represent thrilling discoveries.
Cognitive science today gets increasingly interested in the embodiment of human perception thinking and action. Interest has been shifted to interactions between material, human body and its surroundings and the way in which such interactions shape the mind. The concept of embodied cognition emerging from phenomenology cognitive psychology and cognitive linguistics challenged the mind-body dualism.
Physical, sensory and neurological processes connecting actions and perceptions facilitate our interactions with the environment as we explore and experience and create pathways for developing consciousness, language and memory. These further blends to contribute to learning vocabularies through exploratory choregraphies and complex interweaving across different disciplines in exchange of theoretical and methodological approach.
As I was reading this article it struck me that ART has so much science behind it!!

What has MA in Professional Practice given me??

Hi everyone,
Feels good be to back on my blog...Did not realize how time flew!! I still remember vividly my first skype chat in Module 1 which made me go nervous and anxious.  However, it is the time now to look back and sum up what I have gained through this journey of MAPP, What difference it has added to my life? what moved me..what shook me?  Personally it has allowed me to discover my strengths and weaknesses.
Firstly being a part of MAPP boosted my confidence and positivity as at every step I would learn from my mistakes and started focusing greatly on what I was supposed to do.. and when confronted with difficulties I learnt to admit my inadequacies and worked towards it.
Secondly, I accepted the fact that there is no right or wrong..each person is unique, and everyone has their individual creative skills and we just had to proceed with confidence.
Thirdly, I believed in my gut feelings at times and just carried on with it.  Further, I noticed how my actions and thinking were expanding way beyond the dance studio..as I had started observing student's behaviour,  parent's enquiries and I wondered the ability with which I could respond was something which surprised me.  Without my knowledge I was following all the ethical considerations during my practice, my new choreographies for school play had broader movement vocabulary, managing time was another added advantage as I had learnt to skillfully balance my work and family...by then I had stopped judging myself  harshly  and I faced my fears courageously..at the end of Module three..I had a great zeal of contentment..as I had created things that mattered..spent time with family...found time for activities that once seemed trivial...last but not the least I got an incredible opportunity to meet wonderful people like Helen and Adesola..and many more talened friends in our MAPP community.

Thanks.
